    Unable to install SCOM 2007 reporting services on WS 2008

    When you try to install the reporting component of System Center Operations Manager 2007 on Windows Server 2008 the following error might occur.

    This error is actually due to a problem with the SQL Server 2005 reporting services (SSRS) running on top of Windows Server 2008 (WS2008). First thing you need to do is to make sure that you have installed SSRS correctly on top of WS2008. This article from Microsoft would help you do that.

    Even after strictly following the above article you might still run into the same issue. In that case follow these steps completely get rid of this issue.

    • Start IIS 7 Manager
    • Go to the "ReportServer" application and select it. This could be under Default Web Site"
    • Select "Handler Mappings" on the central pane and double click it
    • In the Actions pane on the right hand side click "Edit Feature Permissions" and make sure that the settings are like this

    • Click OK and restart SSRS (not really required). You are all set to go

    File sharing is not working in Windows Vista

    Did you ever face issues in sharing files/folders in Windows Vista? Then try out these two quick things before calling the support engineer.

    1) Follow the steps below to ensure that file sharing is turned ON.

    Access the  “Network and Sharing Center” by right clicking the network icon in system tray

    2) Under “Sharing and Discovery” select “Turn on file sharing” and “Apply”

    3) If you are not able to share files/folders even after completing the above step, you may need to customise the location type setting of the network you are connected to. On the same window as step 2 click on the “customize” link next to your network and change the network type to “Private” as shown below
